Brandy is a spirit distilled from wines and aged anywhere up to a year. The finer Brandies are best enjoyed neat in a snifter (as seen above) while some of your more basic brandies are best enjoyed in mixed drinks and cocktails. An old spirit, Brandy has been around since the 12th century and is available from many well-known domestic and import brandy distilleries.
A unique, fine spirit typically distilled from the Ugni Blanc only, Cognac originated in the French town of Cognac. True Cognac must also go distillation in copper cops twice and then be aged for a minimum of 2 years in French oak barrels. A delicacy, Cognac is perfect for sipping before or after a meal, or when one needs to just kick back and relax. Delicately complex flavors make up the Cognac palate, though each Cognac maker leaves their own mark on the general Cognac profile.
