New and Exciting Additions to Great Spirit's Diverse Stock

Do not let the brewerie's name, Jolly Pumpkin Artisan Ales, fool you. There is no pumpkin involved in any of their brews. Instead, expect a lot of barrel-aged sour ale love. Fairly new to the craft scene, Jolly Pumpkin dares to bring the beer lover a new level of brewing wonder, the sour ale. Yes, Virginia, excellence can be bottled.

A yearly release from Sierra Nevada around the holiday season is Celebration Ale. Alwayse the same and yet at the same time, always just a little bit different, Sierre Nevada has once again given us something to celebrate. Grab two six packs; one to enjoy now and one to enjoy later. Celebration Ale also ages wonderfully.

A new addition to our import lager scene is the Carlsberg lager. A long-standing main-stay in her home country, give the Carlsberg a try. You might not go back to the other typical macro beers such as Heinekin or Becks.

I remember my very first Corsendonk Abbey Ale, specifically, their Brown Ale. Suffice to say it was a moment of divine intervention, angels singing, and pure beer bliss. I am very excited and happy to have their two amazingly delicious and complex Abbey Pale Ale and Abbey Brown Ale.

The bottles may be small, but what is contained within is one of the finest examples of small-batch English Ale brewing ever made. Period. Thomas Hardy's Ale ages beautifully and can also be enjoyed fresh. Every penny spent to bring a 4pack home with you is money well spent.

Dogfish Head releases a winter seasonal every year by the name of World Wide Stout and it is one of their best yearly seasonal releases, if not one of their best beers. Dark, malty, and very rich with warmth and flavors, World Wide Stout will rock your world and herald in a wonderful holiday season.

Every three years Samuel Adams does a very limited release of a very special beer, and no I am not speaking of Utopias, though the Sam Adams Chocolate Bock is just about as revered as the Utopias. A very limited release means I am very pleased and privileged to be able to offer the Sam Adams Chocolate Bock at our store here in Vero Beach.

Beer aged in oak is a beautiful marriage, so I have full faith that cider aged in oak is yet another beautiful marriage. A limited seasonal release from Woodchuck, their Oak Aged Cider is sitting on our shelves with her fellow Woodchuck brethren, but I cannot ensure how long she will last.

A well crafted doppelbock is a treasure to all beer lovers and Tucher brews one of their own which will dazzle and woo your tastebuds as much as it does mine. She calls herself the Bajuvator. In large bottles at a bargain price, Tucher Bajuvator is one of the best Doppelbock around in terms of quality and price.

Right up there with Tucher and Ayinger in terms of the best German beer brewed and readily available in the USA is another brewery, one which holds a very special standing in the brewing world: Weihenstephaner. The oldest brewery in the world and located in Germany, appropriately so, they brew many quality year-round beers, but for Great Spirits I brought in the best of the best. Specifically, their Hefeweissen, Kristall Weizen (a filtered hefeweizen), and their Korbinian, another divine German doppelbock. Great beers at a great price, be sure to bring a little bit of brewing history home with you in the bottle form of Weihenstephaner.

My favorite Pennsylvania brewery at the moment is Weyerbacher Brewing. Hands down, they are brewing some of the best PA beers around, yearly and seasonal. Being the holiday and one of the best times of the year for creative beers to grace my glass, Weyerbacher presents their Winter Ale. Fear not the snowman and bring home a 6pack today while you can.

Ast anyone about the St. Bernardus Abbey in Belgium and their quintessential beer which will always come to mind is their Abt. 12; one of the best if not the best Belgian Quadrupel. Well, that isn't the only beer which St. Bernardus turns their brewing skills on, and new to the store is their Prior 8, a richly delicious Belgian Dubbel looking for a loving home.

The Dupont Brasserie in Belgium gives us the worlds best Saison, and every year around Christmas time, they release the Dupont Avec Les Bons Voeux, their Christmas Belgian Saison which will equally amaze, dazzle, and seduce you. She could be aged for a few, but I recommend enjoying as much Bons Voeux fresh as you can before she disappears until Christmas time 2009.

I have tasted in my weekly Saturday beer tastings the Saxo Belgian Blonde Ale from the Caracole brewery in Belgium, but up until now I haven't been able to get in their other two equally impressive beers. Please join me in welcoming the brown ale Nostradamus and the amber ale known appropriately as Caracole. Anyone familiar with the Rare Vos from Ommegang knows then the delights of a Belgian amber ale, and we all know the divinity of a Belgian brown ale. I can say 100% that Caracole delivers perfection on their two additions.

Earlier this year Ommegang released a special beer to celebrate their 10th Anniversary. Aptly named Chocolate Indulgence, she was a Belgian Chocolate Stout brewed with real Belgian Chocolate. I was lucky enough a few months ago to stumble upon a bottle in a liquor store; I took her home and had her that very evening. Delicious!! Soft!! Decadent!! It was immediate beervana, and the only point of sorrow was that she was no longer available. That is, until now. Due to the immense popularity and demand for their 10th Anniversary Chocolate Indulgence, Ommegang brewed another batch of which I immediately brought in a case for your enjoyment and pleasure. Grab a bottle before they are all gone.

Three new beers in from an excellent craft brewery out of Norway, Nogne-O. We currently have in stock their Pale Ale, Brown Ale, and Porter. All their beers are bottle-conditioned and excellent works of brewing craftmanship. Give Norway a chance and bring home a Nogne-O; you won't regret it.

First Florida brough us the Orange Blossom Pilsner, a pilsner-style beer brewed with real orange blossom honey. Well, now those crazy brewers over at OBP have brought us the OBP, or OBP Squared, and imperial and tastebud dazzling concoction which gives Pilsner a whole new meaning, in a good way of course.

The 2008 Limited Edition 5L mini keg of Bells Oberon, a delicious summer wheat ale. Get them while you can.
